The International Participation Programs are directed to the general public around the world interested in interacting with eastern South Pacific marine mammals, supporting and participating directly in continuous research and conservation activism. Our International Participation Programs -IPP- are divided in two modes: The International Volunteer Program and the International Internship Program directed for students or persons outside Peru interested in developing a career in marine sciences, as it is is designed with academic value. The Volunteer Program aims to provide the opportunity of direct involvement to people around the world willing to share the same interest for conservation of the environment and love for marinelife, sharing with us experiences with marine mammals in Peru. Our International Volunteer Program is integral so it does require to cover a registration fee for reservation and participation cost that includes housing, basic training and an official Proof of Volunteering.
Our International Volunteers are specially trainned to dedicate their time with us helping in the handling, care and assistance of the marine patients admitted for rehabilitation in our South Pacific Marine Mammal Center. As they also interact with the local volunteer team, these group of volunteers work together to bring the animals back to health, and each one is efficiently trained in the different protocols to assist animals according to the type of affection and the severity of the case. International Volunteers also participate in rescues, and are very welcome to join us in field trips supporting the research team and enrolled interns.
